Senior HSE Manager (COMAH)

We are now seeking a Senior HSE Manager (COMAH) at our COMAH designated Oilseeds Processing facility. You will support plant leadership in all HSE, process safety, and fire protection related topics, establishing and maintaining a safe and environmentally friendly work environment and culture based on local and corporate legislation, closely cooperating with the HSE and Process Safety (Regional & Global) Technology Centers and other key departments/ contacts in our global organization.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the site HSE, Process Safety and Fire Protection team, providing strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure excellence in health, safety, environmental and COMAH performance. Coach, mentor and develop a high-performing team, setting clear objectives and building future HSE and Process Safety capability across the site.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture focused on Major Accident Hazard prevention, SIF prevention, workforce engagement and continuous risk reduction.
  • Use data, trends and insights to drive continuous improvement, lead significant incident investigations and ensure effective learning across the organization. Provide leadership and governance for Process Safety Management (PSM), ensuring effective controls are in place to manage Major Accident Hazards and regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Lead and facilitate together with location Process Safety Engineer advanced risk management processes including HAZOPs, LOPAs, Management of Change and Permit-to-Work systems, coaching leaders in effective risk ownership.Act as the site's key representative with regulatory authorities including the Environment Agency and HSE, leading inspections, audits and regulatory engagement.
  • Build strong partnerships across site leadership, regional teams and corporate subject matter experts to drive sustainable HSE performance.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure new projects, plant modifications and investments are delivered safely through robust MoC and PSSR processes. Act as the site's senior HSE advisor, influencing operational strategy and ensuring alignment with ADM standards and best practices. Support operations leaders in emergency situations, by leading emergency preparedness and crisis response planning, ensuring effective coordination with emergency services and external stakeholders.
  • Promote organizational learning by ensuring robust onboarding, leadership development and HSE capability programs across the site Drive Performance Excellence and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, reliability and operational performance.
  • Provide expert guidance on evolving COMAH, environmental and occupational safety legislation, ensuring ongoing compliance and best practice adoption.
  • Serve as a key member of the COMAH leadership team, ensuring compliance with all Major Accident Hazard regulations and maintaining the site's Safety Report and associated management systems.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Safety Management, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Health & Safety, Environmental and Process Safety management systems within a complex industrial environment.
  • Strong Process Safety and Major Accident Hazard expertise, including COMAH/Seveso regulations, explosion safety, process risk assessments (HAZOP, LOPA, PHA) and management systems such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Proven leadership experience in Health, Safety and Process Safety within a high-hazard manufacturing, chemical, food processing, energy or industrial environment,
  • Demonstrable experience managing COMAH compliance, Safety Reports, emergency planning and Major Accident Hazard risk management.
  • A strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of translating risk into practical business solutions.
  • Leadership and change management capabilities, with the ability to drive organizational shifts.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence from the frontline to senior leadership.
  • Experience leading complex projects and improvement programs, delivering measurable outcomes through effective planning and execution.
  • A strong drive for success with a continuous improvement mindset and a consistently positive, solutions-based outlook.
  • Comfortable working within a global organization, collaborating across functions, cultures and regional teams
