💷 Salary: £13.45

🕒 Hours: 4 On, 4 Off Shift Pattern. 07:00-19:00 – Days, Nights & Weekends (flexibility for short-notice cover/overtime)

We are looking for a professional and adaptable Site Protection Officer (SPO) to provide exceptional security cover across Marks & Spencer Distribution Centres in Avonmouth.

As an SPO, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure working environment for staff, visitors, and contractors, protecting company assets, and ensuring a consistent, high-quality service across all DCs. You will be required to work flexibly across days, nights, and weekends, including short-notice cover when required.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide professional security cover across multiple M&S Distribution Centres within Bristol.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service in line with Mitie and M&S key values.
  • Maintain professional standards of appearance, conduct, and incident reporting.
  • Monitor access control systems, CCTV, and vehicle movements in accordance with site procedures.
  • Conduct regular internal and external patrols to ensure site safety and security.
  • Conduct site and person searches.
  • Clearly communicate with staff and members of the public, reporting any concerns to security management.
  • Support the prevention and investigation of theft, stock loss, and unauthorised access.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to incidents, alarms, and emergencies following site protocols.
  • Assist site management and permanent SPO teams to maintain smooth and compliant operations.
  • Work flexibly to meet operational requirements, including short-notice assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and company security policies.

Person Specification

✅ Literate and numerate with strong attention to detail and IT skills.

✅ Professional appearance and high personal standards.

✅ Adaptable, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

✅ Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

✅ Calm under pressure with a positive, “can-do” attitude.

✅ Must hold a valid front-line SIA Licence.

✅ Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a reliable vehicle.

  • Report any hazards, risks, or incidents immediately to your line manager.
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE correctly and responsibly.
  • Identify and report any training or equipment needs promptly.
