Site Security Manager ( Aviation Security & Compliance)

Overview

Your security operations, incident response, and regulatory compliance experience from policing transfers directly to aviation security management.

About this role

We are looking for a Site Security Manager to support and oversee aviation security compliance at our East Midlands Airport operation.

The role is responsible for ensuring that our site remains compliant with UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) aviation security requirements, particularly in relation to regulated cargo, personnel security, cargo screening and site access controls.

This opportunity could suit either an experienced aviation security professional or someone currently working at Officer, Specialist or Supervisor level who is ready to take the next step into a broader site security and compliance role.

You will work closely with Operations, Warehouse, HR and external aviation security partners to maintain effective security controls and ensure the site remains audit-ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with CAA aviation security and regulated cargo requirements.
  • Manage and update security procedures, SOPs, personnel vetting and security records.
  • Monitor site access controls, cargo screening and secure cargo handling processes.
  • Conduct internal compliance checks and support CAA audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Investigate security incidents and non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Work closely with Operations, Warehouse, HR and external partners to maintain effective site security standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Ideally 3–5 years of relevant experience in aviation security, air cargo security, airport security, regulated cargo or aviation compliance.
  • Good working knowledge of CAA aviation security requirements and regulated cargo operations.
  • Experience with aviation security documentation, audits, security procedures or compliance reviews.
  • Understanding of cargo screening processes, access control and personnel security requirements.
  • Previous experience as an Aviation Security Officer, AvSec Officer, Security Compliance Officer, Security Supervisor, Cargo Security Supervisor or similar role would be highly relevant.
  • Previous management experience is welcome but not essential. We are open to candidates ready to progress into their first broader security management position.
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with regulatory documentation.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to work independently, identify risks and follow corrective actions through to completion.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.

What We're Looking for in You

You should be practical, organised and comfortable working in an operational environment. This is not a purely desk-based compliance position. You will regularly work with warehouse and ground operations teams, review how security controls are being applied in practice and help resolve issues when standards are not being met.

We are looking for someone who takes compliance seriously while still being able to work constructively with operational teams and find practical solutions.

Why Join Us?

This role offers the opportunity to take broader ownership of aviation security at site level and develop further within an international logistics environment.

For someone currently working in an aviation security, cargo security or compliance role and looking for the next step in their career, this position offers exposure to CAA compliance, regulated cargo operations, security audits, operational security and cross-functional management.

If you have relevant aviation security experience and are ready to take on broader responsibility, we'd be happy to hear from you.
