About this role

A career without limits

As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.

We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.

The role:**Aviation Security Risk Manager - Transformation

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

British Airways is at the forefront of keeping our colleagues, customers and global operation safe and secure.

As part of our Corporate Safety & Security team, you'll play a critical role in protecting one of the world's most recognised airlines while helping shape the future of aviation security through transformation and innovation.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a team responsible for identifying, assessing and mitigating aviation security risks across our global network. Working with colleagues, regulators, airport authorities and international partners, you'll influence how we evolve our security capability, embed a stronger risk-based approach and drive meaningful change across the business. No two days are the same, and your work will have a direct impact on the resilience, safety and success of our worldwide operation.

What you'll do

  • Lead, develop and empower a high-performing team to mitigate aviation security risks across the British Airways network.
  • Drive transformation initiatives, embedding a risk-focused approach and building aviation security capability across operational areas.
  • Identify and address aviation security performance trends and issues through the continued development and utilisation of security risk dashboards and data insights.
  • Work collaboratively with Aviation Security Assurance, Policy, Operational Risk and Border Security teams to improve security performance and compliance.
  • Oversee remediation activities at airports across the network, providing expert guidance and support to operational stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with regulatory authorities, including the Department for Transport and other international regulators, ensuring compliance and effective oversight.
  • Provide security-related reporting and updates, including support for Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) requirements.
  • Oversee cargo security risk assessments, audit activities and performance management processes.
  • Assess security risks relating to crew accommodation and transport arrangements, providing guidance and recommendations to support colleague safety.
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections, oversee investigation activity and maintain awareness of international aviation security requirements and emerging changes.
  • Champion British Airways values and behaviours while supporting wider Corporate Safety & Security objectives, including participation in the on-call rota.

What you'll bring to British Airways

Firstly you will bring a strong leadership capability and a passion for developing high-performing teams. Your experience will be evident through your ability to build credibility quickly, influence stakeholders at all levels and create lasting relationships across a diverse network of colleagues, regulators and external partners. You thrive in complex environments, balancing multiple priorities whilst making sound, risk-based decisions under pressure.

Your collaborative approach, resilience and ability to inspire others will help embed a positive security culture across the business. Most importantly, you are passionate about delivering transformational change, empowering teams to adopt new ways of working and helping British Airways remain safe, secure and operationally resilient in an ever-changing global environment.
