About this role

Twenty Fifth Avenue Housing is seeking an organised and detail-focused Compliance / Accounts Officer to support our Birmingham operations.

This is a varied role combining financial administration and property compliance, with responsibility for maintaining accurate financial records while helping to ensure our properties meet key compliance requirements across gas, electrical, fire safety, asbestos and legionella.

You will work closely with colleagues, managing agents, contractors and auditors across our Birmingham portfolio, including properties managed by Escada and BSH.

As Compliance / Accounts Officer, you will play an important role in ensuring that our Birmingham operations are both financially accurate and compliance-ready.

You will maintain financial records, support reconciliations, budgeting and reporting, while also monitoring property compliance documentation and certification. You will ensure records are accurate, current and readily available for audit and management purposes.

This position would suit someone with a finance background who also has experience or working knowledge of property compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate accounts and financial records for Birmingham operations.
  • Reconcile accounts and support budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Monitor property compliance requirements, including gas, electrical, fire, asbestos and legionella.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance registers.
  • Monitor certificates and documentation to ensure records remain current and audit-ready.
  • Liaise with managing agents, contractors and auditors on finance and compliance matters.
  • Produce finance and compliance reports for management.

About You

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, analytical and comfortable managing responsibilities across both finance and compliance.

Essential

  • AAT Level 3 qualification or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a finance or accounts role.
  • Working knowledge of property compliance, including gas, electrical, fire safety, asbestos and legionella.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

Desirable

  • Experience working within social housing or the charity sector.
  • Experience managing property compliance across multiple sites.
  • Understanding of financial arrangements involving managing agents.
