Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in risk intelligence, trust and safety, crisis response, or risk analysis.
  • Experience managing sensitive online content domains.

Preferred qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in business intelligence or data analytics.
  • Experience with explaining technical analysis to stakeholders.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Python, or R).

YouTube’s Intelligence and Scaled Insights team analyzes content risks across social media to inform critical decision-making, keeping YouTube safe for billions of users. Resourceful and deeply rooted in subject matter expertise and evidence-based analysis, our work spans high-level intelligence to granular investigations. Within our Intelligence Desk, we identify and investigate emerging threats, uncovering the root causes behind platform risks to help design effective, long-term mitigations. We synthesize information (both quantitative and qualitative) from sources to evaluate the broader impact and trade-offs of every proposed solution.

US: $171000 - $247000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Identify and investigate emerging trends, threat vectors, and behavioral patterns related to suicide, self-harm, and eating disorders across YouTube and the broader digital ecosystem.
  • Monitor high-risk online phenomena, assessing how self-harm content morphs, evades automated detection, or propagates among vulnerable communities.
  • Craft and communicate evidence-driven assessments and analysis to executive management and cross-functional stakeholders to drive decision-making.
  • Partner closely with various cross-functional teams, including Trust and Safety, Youth, and product teams, to translate complex behavioral and trend insights into actionable intelligence driving safety mitigations and product updates.
