About this role

Main Responsibility

The role is positioned within the Legal & Compliance function, with primary responsibility for coordinating with external legal advisors and supporting legal and regulatory compliance across the Bank.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a key liaison with external legal advisors on matters relating to legal and regulatory compliance arising from the Bank’s UK operations.
  • Provide guidance to business teams on routine legal and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Draft, review, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls, and address related queries.
  • Maintain and update the Regulatory Correspondence Register along with supporting documentation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses to requests from courts, law enforcement agencies, regulators, HMRC, DWP, liquidators, and other authorities.
  • Conduct horizon scanning and assess the impact of regulatory developments across various functions within the Bank.
  • Support the preparation of materials for the Legal & Compliance Committee, including monthly reviews of legal orders and information requests.
  • Communicate regulatory updates to Compliance, Business, and Operations teams.
  • Provide legal advisory support on issues arising from the Bank’s UK operations.
  • Oversee the annual review of the Legal and Conveyancing Panel and coordinate with panel firms for external legal services, including legal opinions and litigation matters.
  • Manage ad hoc legal and compliance matters as they arise.
  • Review and approve financial promotions in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform Legal & Compliance oversight and monitoring activities.
  • Prepare and present reports for senior management.
  • Review outputs from third-party vendor systems and ensure compliance alignment.
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects and initiatives as directed by the Head of Legal & Compliance.
