About this role

Legal and Compliance Officer – GarancieChex

GarancieChex is looking for a Legal and Compliance Officer to join our growing background screening business in Sevenoaks, Kent. This hybrid junior to mid-level role is ideal for someone with 2–3 years’ experience across legal, compliance, data protection, audit, governance, risk or information security.

The successful candidate will support a broad range of legal and compliance activities, including contract review, client and supplier due diligence, internal audit, governance registers, policy maintenance and regulatory compliance. A key part of the role will involve supporting the company’s Data Protection Officer function, helping to maintain compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This will include supporting privacy notices, records of processing, retention schedules, data protection policies, DSARs, DPIAs, legitimate interest assessments, data processing reviews, international transfer controls and breach/incident processes.

The role will also play an important part in GarancieChex’s ISO 27001 readiness programme and broader information security governance. This will include assisting with the development and maintenance of the Information Security Management System, supporting risk assessments, control mapping, evidence gathering, policy documentation, supplier security reviews, audit preparation and ongoing compliance monitoring.

This is a great opportunity for a detail-focused and commercially minded legal or compliance professional to gain broad exposure across data protection, information security, contracts, audit and governance, while helping shape the compliance framework of a fast-growing, people-first screening provider.

A law degree or legal training would be advantageous, but practical compliance experience, strong written communication, sound judgement and excellent attention to detail are equally important.
