We are seeking a freelance Authorising Officer to oversee and manage our UK Home Office Sponsor Licence. As this is a core legal responsibility required by the Home Office, the successful candidate must be fully settled in the UK.
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Part-time Compliance Officer to serve as the Key Contact for our Sponsor Licence. This is a fully remote, micro part-time role (ad-hoc / upon request). This role involves ensuring adherence to immigration and sponsorship regulations, maintaining compliance standards, and supporting the organisation’s legal responsibilities. The ideal candidate must be based in the UK with permanent right to work (or citizenship). This position offers highly flexible hours suitable for individuals seeking ad-hoc engagement within a professional environment.
CRITICAL REQUIREMENT: Due to Home Office regulations for Sponsor Licence personnel, applicants MUST hold either British Citizenship or Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).
Please note: We cannot accept applicants on Graduate Visas, Student Visas, or temporary Work Visas (e.g., Skilled Worker) for this specific role.
Applicants must be based in the UK and legally registered as a sole trader/freelancer.
Duties
Act as the primary point of contact (Key Contact / Authorising Officer) for matters related to the Sponsor Licence on the SMS system.
Monitor and ensure ongoing compliance with immigration sponsorship requirements and regulations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sponsored employees, including visa status and documentation.
Conduct regular audits to verify adherence to legal and organisational standards.
Assist in preparing documentation for audits or inspections by regulatory bodies.
Support the organisation’s internal policies on immigration.
Implement quality assurance procedures to uphold high standards of compliance.
Requirements
Must be currently based in the UK with a legal status allowing appointment as a company contact (e.g., British Citizen or ILR).
Proven experience managing the UK Home Office SMS Portal and Sponsor Licence compliance.
Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Strong understanding of UK immigration legislation and sponsor licence requirements.
Ability to work independently and manage priorities efficiently on an ad-hoc basis.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Comfortable with a flexible retainer + hourly rate structure or micro-hours contract.
Pay: £25.00-£40.00 per hour
