Make a real difference to quality, compliance and outcomes for young people
Are you an experienced Quality Assurance, Compliance or Service Improvement professional looking for a role where your expertise can have a direct impact?
We are seeking a proactive and practical Quality and Compliance Officer to help us maintain and improve the quality, safety and compliance of our supported accommodation services for young people.
This is a hands-on role. You won't simply identify issues and write reports — you'll help design solutions, implement better systems, support staff to use them and check that improvements are sustained.
Working closely with the Registered Manager and operational teams, you'll help ensure our services meet the requirements of Ofsted, the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023, commissioners and our organisational standards.
What you'll be doing
You'll have a varied quality and compliance remit, including:
- Planning and delivering quality audits, inspections, spot checks and themed compliance reviews.
- Supporting services to maintain Ofsted compliance and inspection readiness.
- Developing and embedding practical quality assurance and compliance systems.
- Reviewing safeguarding, incidents, complaints, risk assessments and support planning.
- Monitoring the quality and delivery of support to young people.
- Inspecting accommodation and monitoring health, safety, cleanliness, security, repairs and property compliance.
- Identifying risks, recurring issues and gaps in practice and turning these into clear improvement and corrective action plans.
- Supporting staff through coaching, guidance and practical implementation of new processes.
- Reviewing records and documentation to ensure they are accurate, current, secure and fit for purpose.
About you
We're looking for someone who combines strong quality assurance skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
You will ideally have experience in quality assurance, compliance, auditing, service improvement or inspection within one or more of the following:
- Supported accommodation
- Children's services
- Social care
- Housing
- Health and social care
- Another regulated or compliance-led environment
You will have
- Experience developing and embedding operational systems, policies or processes.
- Experience carrying out audits, inspections or quality checks and following actions through to verified completion.
- A good working knowledge of Ofsted requirements, ideally including supported accommodation.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and an understanding of risk management.
- The ability to translate regulations and contractual requirements into practical day-to-day processes.
- Confidence to challenge poor practice constructively and escalate serious concerns appropriately.
- Excellent communication, organisation, analytical and report-writing skills.
- The ability to travel independently between service locations across Birmingham, the West Midlands and Stoke-on-Trent.
It would be particularly advantageous if you have
- Direct experience working within Ofsted-regulated supported accommodation for 16- and 17-year-olds.
- Experience supporting or preparing for Ofsted inspections.
- Experience in a developing service or organisation-wide quality improvement programme.
- A relevant qualification or training in quality assurance, auditing, health and safety, housing, social care or children's services.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to take ownership of an important quality and compliance function and make a visible difference to the safety, experience and outcomes of young people.
You'll have the opportunity to shape systems, influence practice and work alongside managers and frontline teams to turn good intentions into consistent, measurable and sustainable improvements.
If you're someone who enjoys finding solutions, improving systems, challenging constructively and seeing the results of your work, we'd like to hear from you.
