About this role

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Royal Bank of Canada Europe Ltd.'s Chief Operating Officer's team is looking for an experienced Operational Resilience Senior Manager to shape how we protect RBC's operations and serve our customers with confidence. You'll lead the design and delivery of our Operational Resilience, Business Continuity, and Incident Management frameworks—making sure we're prepared for whatever comes our way, while staying compliant with regulatory requirements and RBC's Enterprise-wide standards.

Permanent, full-time role. Based in London, Newcastle, or Edinburgh.

What will you do?

  • Design and deliver our annual Operational Resilience cycle—from defining what matters most (critical operations) through to testing our readiness and setting realistic tolerance levels
  • Create visibility through meaningful dashboards, KPIs, and reporting that keeps leadership informed and enables smart decision-making
  • Push continuous improvement by embedding industry best practices and evolving our approach to stay ahead of the curve
  • Spot and solve problems early by identifying risks and blockers, then escalating strategically to the right stakeholders
  • Build the bridge between COO, Risk, and Front Office teams, ensuring everyone's aligned and pulling in the same direction
  • Keep us ready through effective Business Continuity Management—maintaining plans, Impact Assessments, and regular testing across the business
  • Lead through crises by overseeing our Incident Management structure and coordinating response teams when issues arise
  • Be the voice of expertise internally and externally on Operational Resilience, Business Continuity, and Incident Management

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Proven track record managing Operational Resilience in large, complex, high-stakes organizations
  • Deep expertise in building management information systems and meaningful KPIs that drive action
  • Solid grasp of wealth management operations—from settlements and advice through to portfolio and client service
  • Ability to lead effectively both directly and across matrix relationships, with high standards throughout
  • Credibility with senior stakeholders and external parties; relationship-building is second nature to you
  • Strong foundation in risk methodologies and business process understanding

Nice-to-have

  • Experience navigating complex operational and resilience frameworks in wealth management
  • Familiarity working alongside C-suite executives
  • Proven senior leadership experience

What is in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best—progressive thinking to keep growing and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Programme including bonuses, flexible benefits and competitive compensation
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities
  • Opportunities to work with the best in the field
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
