About the Team

The Group Risk function provides independent, second-line oversight of risk across the Group's portfolio of entities. This role sits within that function, focused on the risk oversight of the Company's Trading Venue segment.

About the Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to build and own the risk function for a multi-asset-class Trading Venue — spanning a broad range of financial instruments — with a DLT overlay. You will be responsible for identifying, assessing and managing the risks specific to operating a Trading Venue, including market conduct, participant risk, systems and controls, and the distinct operational and settlement risks introduced by the DLT infrastructure. You will hold PQ (Approved Person) status with the MFSA and act as the venue's dedicated point of accountability for risk matters.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Trading Venue Risk Framework: Design, implement and maintain a risk management framework specific to the Trading Venue segment, covering market, operational, conduct and technology risk
  • Market Surveillance Oversight: Independently assess the effectiveness of the venue's market surveillance arrangements in identifying rule infringements, disorderly trading conditions, market abuse indicators and system disruptions
  • Participant Risk Assessment: Assess prospective and existing members'/participants' trading ability and financial resource adequacy relative to the venue's settlement arrangements, working alongside Compliance's onboarding and fit-and-proper due diligence
  • Systems and Controls Oversight: Independently assess the adequacy of the venue's systems and controls framework, including algorithmic trading resilience, capacity and technology risk
  • DLT Infrastructure Risk Oversight: Assess the adequacy of the Trading Venue's arrangements specific to the DLT infrastructure
  • Business Continuity Oversight: Independently assess the adequacy of the venue's business continuity arrangements (DRP, BCP, BCM) against MFSA requirements
  • Regulatory Liaison: Support the Company's regulatory relationship with the MFSA on Trading Venue-specific risk matters, including correspondence, notifications and reporting

What We Look For In You

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, law, business administration or a related field; a relevant risk or regulatory certification is preferred
  • 8+ years' experience in a risk, compliance or regulatory role within a Trading Venue, Regulated Market, MTF/OTF operator or Exchange/equivalent market infrastructure
  • Sound understanding of the MFSA regulatory framework (or an equivalent ESMA-supervised NCA) and MiFID II requirements applicable to Trading Venues
  • Familiarity with DLT-based market infrastructure and the associated operational and settlement risk considerations is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical ability, with the capacity to assess venue-level risk exposures, identify gaps and produce well-reasoned written analysis
  • Comfortable operating with significant autonomy in a newly established, independent reporting line, exercising sound judgement and escalating appropriately
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Legal and Technology
  • Eligible to hold PQ (Approved Person) status with the MFSA, or to obtain it in due course

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation package
  • L&D programs and education subsidy for employees' growth and development
  • Various team building programs and company events
  • Wellness and meal allowances
  • Comprehensive healthcare schemes for employees and dependants
  • More that we love to tell you along the process!
