About this role

Job Introduction

Vision Zero Bradford (VZB) is a flagship initiative within the Planning, Transportation & Highways Service aiming to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries on the District’s roads by 2040. We work collaboratively with internal services, elected members, emergency services, schools, public health, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, and communities to deliver a Safe System approach. The team is forward-thinking, data-led, and committed to meaningful action that protects all road users, particularly the most vulnerable.

The Vision Zero Team

We are recruiting a Data and Intelligence Officer to join our expanding team. This role will play a vital part in delivering the Vision Zero Implementation Strategy (VZBIS), working across delivery planning, data intelligence, and performance monitoring. Each member has a distinct focus, but all contribute directly to the success of our Vision Zero ambition. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the region’s most progressive road safety programmes and make a lasting difference in our diverse, vibrant city.

Role Description

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting Bradford's mission to reduce road traffic fatalities and serious injuries. You will deliver in-depth data analysis to inform and guide targeted safety interventions. To succeed, you’ll need advanced analytical skills, proven experience with GIS and database systems, strong research capabilities, and the ability to interpret and clearly communicate complex data insights to a range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality strategic intelligence to senior managers and board members, influencing key decisions to meet organisational objectives and optimise resource allocation.

Define organisational information needs and design tailored analytical approaches, applying innovation throughout the process.

Perform detailed analysis of demographic, environmental, and behavioural factors contributing to road traffic collisions.

Query large datasets, use analytical software to process and summarise data, and interpret trends while accounting for data limitations.

Present analysis findings through meetings, presentations, and written reports, providing recommendations to support data-driven, cost-effective interventions.

Degree-qualified or experienced as a professional data analyst.

Self-motivated and organised; able to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate to align analysis with organisational goals.

Analytical and detail-focused; adept at processing raw data, producing accurate summaries, and applying critical thinking to interpret findings objectively.

Clear and adaptable communicator; able to present complex insights to non-technical audiences and committed to continuous improvement.

How to Apply

If you are interested in joining our team and would like further information, please contact Miguel D’Souza on 07890 971246 or email miguel.dsouza@bradford.gov.uk
